generation of thumbnails in nautilus (3.26.0-1)
maybe this bug is already fixed ...
on my debian (buster) sid nautilus 3.26.0-1 is installed. this version is showing all thumbnails generated in the past - but is not able to generate new ones. the process of generating works.
to generate thumbnails by hand the md5sum of "file://path/to/file/filename%20may%20contain%20spaces" is been calculated. this thumbnail-name is accepted by nautilus and displayed propperly. procedure has to encode all characters beside! [_-.a-zA-Z1-9/].
encoding "/" (esc-sequence: %2f) before calculating the md5sum caused IMHO the problems. so any time nautilus is looking into a directories file and not finding the propper thumbnail (using the old variant of path/filename-encoding) - a new thumbnail is created with a wrong encoded filepath/filename and stored somehow in /usr/cache/thumbnail/fail/gnome*/...
probably solution: either change the encoding in nautilus wile reading the filenames and display the corresponding old thumbnails. or discard all old thumbnails and change the encoding to the newer way at all (inside nautilus)
best regards carsten :)
