Folder icon is incorrectly thumbnailed if the source of the icon has been updated

STEPS TO REPRODUCE

  1. Download an image into a folder.
  2. Change folder's icon to the downloaded image.
  3. Overwrite the image with a new one.
  4. Change folder's icon to the new image.

EXPECTED BEHAVIOUR

The icon to change to the new image.

REAL BEHAVIOUR

The icon doesn't update.

Copied from Launchpad

I can confirm this bug on Files 3.26.0 on Ubuntu 17.10, I can also confirm it on the Files Nightly (3.28.0) Flatpak. A nautilus --quit and relaunch of Files updates the thumbnail as expected.

This bug can be reproduced even if you delete the folder, create a new one (with the same name and in the same directory), and try and give it a thumbnail of the new image (with the same name and inside the folder). The old image's thumbnail is used until a nautilus --quit and starting up Files again.

I've been using the directory ~/Downloads/test, ubuntu16-laptop.png in that folder and this image to overwrite the image in that folder.
