Drag-and-drop causes file paths to be passed on in reverse sort order
Affected Version
- Version: 46.0
- Distribution: Arch Linux
- Also happens with development version: Yes
Steps to reproduce
- Create a directory with the files
a.txt
,b.txt
,1.txt
, and2.txt
. - Sort by any column, for example name, ascending.
- Select all files.
- Drag-and-drop the files into an application, for example
gnome-terminal
. - Sort by the same column, descending.
- Repeat steps 3 and 4.
Expected Behavior
In step 4, the application will show the files in ascending order, i.e.: 1.txt
, 2.txt
, a.txt
, b.txt
In step 6, the application will show the files in descending order, i.e.: b.txt
, a.txt
, 2.txt
, 1.txt
Actual Behavior
In step 4, the application will show the files in descending order.
In step 6, the application will show the files in ascending order.
Additional Information
A similar regression was reported in September 2022 for Gnome 43, see #2512 (closed). Might be related. Though copying and pasting the files to a text editor lists them in the correct order now, using drag-and-drop to add them to other applications (tested: gnome-terminal
, mpv
) causes them to be added in reverse sorting order.
