Unable create a new file using the list tree
Affected Version
- Version: 42.6
- Distribution: Ubuntu 22.04.4 LTS
- Also happens with development version: No
Steps to reproduce
- Open files app (any folder).
- Select the list view.
- In preferences enable expand folders in list.
- Try open the tree and create a any new file.
Expected Behavior
See the contextual menu with "Create a new file" o "Create new folder".
Actual Behavior
No menu appears to create a new file or directory when right clicking on the chosen directory or on the item called "empty".
Additional Information
It should show a menu or button to create a new blank file or from templates, or create a new directory, but none of these menus are seen because the application only shows this context menu when you right click on a place within the directory that is not whether on top of a file or another directory, this prevents or makes it difficult to create new items in list mode since there can always be a very long list and there will be no empty space where you can click to open that contextual menu. In directory tree mode the problem is worse because it is not possible to open the context menu to create new files anywhere within the chosen directory.
