[Udisks] Unable to mount NTFS drive
Dear all, I have 2 external HD drives:
- External 1Tb USB drive Toshiba NTFS
- Internal 160Gb MK1652GSX (Toshiba) drive connected via sata<->usb3 adapter
When I try to mount the first one from Nautilus no issue, when I try to mount the second one I get this error message:
this is the output from udisksctl monitor:
fabio@Abulafia:/media/fabio$ udisksctl monitor Monitoring the udisks daemon. Press Ctrl+C to exit. 15:07:47.196: The udisks-daemon is running (name-owner :1.9). 15:07:49.033: Added /org/freedesktop/UDisks2/jobs/39 org.freedesktop.UDisks2.Job: Bytes: 0 Cancelable: true ExpectedEndTime: 0 Objects: /org/freedesktop/UDisks2/block_devices/sdd1 Operation: filesystem-mount Progress: 0.0 ProgressValid: false Rate: 0 StartTime: 1699884469029754 StartedByUID: 0 15:07:49.039: /org/freedesktop/UDisks2/jobs/39: org.freedesktop.UDisks2.Job::Completed (false, 'mount(2) system call failed: No such file or directory') 15:07:49.039: Removed /org/freedesktop/UDisks2/jobs/39
afte many research and call for help link1 link2 I've found this post from reddit
apparenty some late update of udisks (I recently updated to Ubuntu23.10) require a special flag to mount NTFS disks (that is strange since both my HD are NTFS formatted)
fabio@Abulafia:~$ udisksctl mount -b /dev/sdd1 Mounted /dev/sdd1 at /media/fabio/Toshiba fabio@Abulafia:~$ udisksctl mount -b /dev/sde1 Error mounting /dev/sde1: GDBus.Error:org.freedesktop.UDisks2.Error.Failed: Error mounting /dev/sde1 at /media/fabio/HD160Gb: mount(2) system call failed: No such file or directory fabio@Abulafia:~$ udisksctl mount -t ntfs -b /dev/sde1 Mounted /dev/sde1 at /media/fabio/HD160Gb
Can you please help me addressing this issue? I feel I am almost close to identify a bug.
thanks
