Limiting Drag and Drop for the Nautilus File Manager search results
After performing a search and displaying search results in the File Manager:
The problem:
- the problem is accidental drag and drop after accidental Touchpad-Double-Tap-Keep-Touch, when a (fast) repeated Touchpad-Swipe(Slide) (i.e. pointer move) is actually desired (meant) by the user
Solution 1:
- Drag and drop could be disabled for Search results (i.e. the file move/copy operations for the files in Search results could be handled only by keyboard (CTRL+X / CTRL+C / ...), or by Context-Menu ([ Right-Click / Two-Finger-Tap ] -> Copy/Cut/Paste))
Solution 2:
-
For Search results: Only items on the first column (
Name
) should be [ draggable / selectable ], the rest of the columns' items should [ not be draggable / act as empty space ] concerning file selection
My System Info:
File Manager: Nautilus 42.2
Operating System: Ubuntu 22.04.2 LTS
OS Type: 64-bit
Gnome Version: 42.5
Windowing System: Wayland
