The button to stop an active search is too out of the way
Using the floating bar for the on-going search process has a few flaws:
- it doesn't draw your attention to the ongoing process readily enough as it's reusing something designed to be out of the way
- on larger/wider displays getting down to the corner from the search box to cancel the search takes more time
- the cancel action isn't clearly a cancel/stop action as buttons in the floating bar are not a common pattern
Using a Toast here might be more suited for ongoing search given we can both present more information (such as where the current search is taking place) and present a clear "Cancel" action. Plus it draws your attention as it pops into view.
