Files: Blatant shortcomings for keyboard navigation
Fedora version 36 GNOME 42
In the latest version of GNOME (42) it is no longer possible to navigate Files with the keyboard alone.
It is still possible to navigate up/down the file list and press [return] or [Alt][Right], but the directory tree can no longer be navigated. In the previous version of GNOME it was still possible to navigate by using the [spacebar] (which insofar as I know was undocumented) but now that too is gone.
So now I (like a novice) must waste time in pointing and clicking.
This shortcoming becomes even more apparent when we compare the (lack of) keyboard navigation in Files with the one in the standard File Dialog Box used by all applications that run under GNOME. Here, full navigation is possible using the arrow keys, [return] and [F6] – true to the original principles of full keyboard navigation.
Why don't you guys adopt the excellent navigation found in the GNOME File Dialogs ???
