Launching nautilus with compressed file as argument does not select it when nautilus does not handle this mime type
Affected version
- Nightly flatpak: Can't test it because it only finds nautilus as possible program to open archive files with
- Other: nautilus-42.1.1-1.fc36
Steps to reproduce
- Create an archive file and a regular file:
touch ~/example && gzip ~/example && touch ~/example
- Make sure nautilus does not handle gzip archives by installing for example file-roller and setting this as default in the file properties
- Run
nautilus ~/example.gz
- Run
nautilus ~/example
Current behavior
The first nautilus command does not select the specified file. The second one does.
Expected behavior
Both should select the file.
Additional information
- The file is still scrolled into view, but not selected
- I assume this is due to nautilus assuming that it will extract the archive and then try to select the extracted file/folder, which however is not the case when it does not handle the archive type
