Show context menu entries for no selected item in other contexts
Affected version
- Nightly flatpak: (Yes) / No / Can't test it because
Use cases
Create new items in a current location full of items, using the right-click context menu for no currently selected entry, when there are entries present in the GUI that would normally be selected when clicking anywhere along their row, or using any sort of application menu entry and toolbar button as well. This could include creating any of the currently present template files as already available in other situations.
Available features and workarounds
Creating the item:
- in another location with less items so I can right-click the empty area below the last item.
- using a CLI command string.
- possibly with a strangely-focused script when executed on a child item in the current location, from the current selected item context menu entries, or a keyboard shortcut (hotkey/accelerator).
Difficulties and insufficiencies
It is difficult/inconvenient to create these items in the use care provided, when this functionality is present elsewhere, such as Windows first-party File Explorer, and third-party Explorer++, by having a mode where full row selection for an item is disabled, thus allowing use of the empty area beside an existing item's name and even over it's displayed properties too.
