no option to disable automatic extraction of archives
nautilus defaults to extract archives on open. There needs to be a setting to disable it globally.
This pollutes the folders with extracted files and differs from the behavior of other operating systems/Desktop environments. While e.g. windows allows you to browse/access the file contents of an archive from within explorer, it doesn't actually extract the files in the current folder, but is more akin to opening the archive in file-roller.
While you can override the default action for each filetype separately, that is not sufficient. Especially since you probably forgot to add variant xy and run into the problem when you least expect it. I never ever want to have to deal with manually removing the files that were extracted needlessly. If I want to extract them, I use the context-menu of extract-here/to.
