Add default New File templates
Use cases
There is no way to create a new file in nautilus by default. It's really embarrassing to explaining to friends that are new to Linux that they have to create something in the terminal just so they can make a new file...
It should be a default/most basic functionality to be able to create a new file in the GUI. Now you have to create a file with touch
in the terminal in the Templates
directory.
Desired behavior
Preferably a few types of New files, like .txt
etc.
Benefits of the solution
It's an actually usable file explorer... I cannot believe I have to file an issue for something this banal
The app should ship with those templates! I checked almost all the most popular distros that use GNOME, only one (Manjaro GNOME) had some New File options. Also, automatic renaming, when a file like that is created, would be nice
