New files created from templates via the "New Document" menu do not have fresh modified times
Affected version
- Other: Fedora Silverblue 32, Nautilus 3.36.3.
Steps to reproduce
- Create a template file in
~/Templates
using any method. - Navigate to a directory in GNOME Files.
- Right-click and use the "New Document" menu to create a new file from the template.
Current behavior
GNOME Files appears to just copy the file across, retaining the same "last time modified".
Expected behavior
I expected GNOME Files to give the file a current "last time modified", as it is supposed to be a brand new file created at the current time. Other methods of creating a file, such as right-clicking and choosing "New Folder" in GNOME Files, or creating files via the terminal, set the "last time modified" to the current time. This behavior therefore seems inconsistent and I view it as a bug.
