All thumbnails are going to ~/.cache/thumbnails/fail/gnome-thumbnail-factory/
Affected version
- Nightly flatpak: Can't test it because I don't want to install flatpak.
- Other: Arch Linux x86-64, Nautilus 3.36.3-efc97f8a
Steps to reproduce
- Open nautilus
- Go to some directories with some photos, videos, pdfs, fonts, etc.
Current behavior
All thumbnails are going to ~/.cache/thumbnails/fail/gnome-thumbnail-factory/
I have 3 other file managers are installed:
- Nemo
- Caja
- Thunar
Once the ~/.cache/thumbnails/fail/
is deleted, and any of the above file manager is run on a directory, they successfully generate thumbnails which nautilus loads.
But if I open nautilus before the thumbnails are generated by other file managers, small transparent thumbnails with no image are generated to ~/.cache/thumbnails/fail/gnome-thumbnail-factory/
. Directory permission doesn't restrict any access to .cache/thumbnails.
Custom generators like this webp generator:
$ cat /usr/share/thumbnailers/webp.thumbnailer
[Thumbnailer Entry]
Exec=/usr/bin/dwebp %i -scale %s %s -o %o
MimeType=image/x-webp;image/webp;
Also fails only with nautilus. Other file managers work as expected. I am a long time nautilus user, but this is the first time I am facing this issue. I was facing before upgrading my system. And then I upgrade the whole system (no partial upgrade) and the problem didn't go away.
I remember I tweaked the size of thumbnails to 4096 MB and probably thumbnails didn't work after than. I am not sure. But I also tried changing it to 10 MB as default, nothing worked.
Services running:
tracker-miner-fs
tracker-miner-rss
bubblewrap
installed
ffmpegthumbnailer
installed
Expected behavior
Thumbnails should get generated by nautilus.
