Making hard links more obvious
In general, hard linked files are hard to recognize – especially if they’re old and forgotten, or if they were created by someone else. Wouldn’t it be useful to point this out more obvious? I’d propose:
- An overlay icon (like it’s done via an arrow for symlinks). Here I think a “+” sign would make sense – for telling the user, that the corresponding inode “has more directory entrys”.
- The modal file properties dialog should show the number of directory entrys for the referring inode (if there are more than just one). Here, all paths should be listed if an info button is clicked.
- At deletion, there should be a remark, that other directory entrys still are existing (and thus no space is freed).
