awfully slow to respond when drawing selection rectangle
Steps to reproduce:
- open a folder containing some files
- click on an empty zone of the window and start dragging as if you wanted to select some files
Expected behavior: as you move the mouse cursor while holding down the mouse button, the selection rectangle should be continuously redrawn. This redrawing should happen at a very fast rate (like more than a dozen times a second at the very least) so you would have the impression it is "continuous". Also, this should consume an almost undetectable amount of CPU.
Observed behavior: the rectangle is not redrawn until you stop moving the mouse cursor. If you keep moving the mouse cursor, it will never be redrawn at all! If you do stop moving the mouse as you normally do, you will get the impression that the animation is terribly jerky, as if the computer was doing too much work. CPU consumption reaches 100% while you move the mouse, whether or not the selection rectangle is redrawn.
I attach a screenshot just so that you get an idea of what selection rectangle I'm talking about, not that it demostrates the issue.
