Display settings not saved across sessions when using fractional scaling
This was reported in Ubuntu bug 1852860.
Environment:
- Ubuntu 19.10
- Nvidia gtx1080
- nvidia xserver installed
- two 4k monitors
- gnome with xorg (ubuntu 19.10 default)
- enable fractional scaling in gnome
Steps to reproduce:
If i enable fractional scaling and then change the scaling to something like 175%, display settings are not persisted across sessions.
If i simply enable fractional scaling, but dont change the scaling (leaving it at 100%), but change other display settings, like location of monitors, they are indeed persisted.
Relevant output of journalctl:
gnome-shell[1789]: Failed to read monitors config file '/home/pdeva/.config/monitors.xml': Logical monitors not adjacent
Attaching monitors.xml after changing display scaling to 175% monitors.xml
