Touchpad, Accessibility issue: Sometimes (depending on timings) 'Open link in new tab' menu in a browser activated without tapping on it
Probably any GNOME, at least 44-45+, Arch Linux, both x11 and Wayland Session.
Tap-to-click enabled.
Inconsistency in behavior depending on how fast you move between a link and 'open link in new tab' context menu entry.
Firefox or Chrome browser.
Normal (expected) behavior:
- 2-finger on a link, context menu should open.
- Slowly navigate by a finger to 'Open link in new tab' entry.
- Release the finger.
- Tap on this menu entry.
- Link is opened in new tab.
Unexpected behavior (all the same, but you move the finger fast from a link to context menu)
- 2-finger on a link, context menu should open.
- Navigate fast with a finger from the link to 'Open link in new tab' entry.
- Release the finger.
- The link is already opened. But you expect it to open only after a tap on menu entry.
The problem in the 2nd case is you selected an entry, but not tapped on it yet. You released the finger and probably you changed your mind to select another entry, but the link is already opened in new tab, that's unexpected.
With the mouse it isn't reproduced.
Update: the same with other context menu entries like 'Copy link address'.
