How to check if a window (surface) uses direct scanout?
Hi, thank you all for working on this impactfull project?
Q1: I'm sometimes play games under Gnome (Wayland), and would like to know whether my games use direct scanout feature of Gnome/Mutter? Is it possible to do it with some tools? I have basic understanding of the 'lg' (looking glass) tool. Can I use it to confirm that a window uses the feature?
Q2: What do we expect from direct scanout surfaces? Is there any description of the feature? I'm asking, because I sometimes play FPS games (like CS:GO), and my understanding is that direct scanout can save a few dozen milliseconds between creating a frame, and actually seeing it on the screen. Is my understanding correct?
Thanks in advance!
