Visual/scaling artifacts in Firefox windows in Overview after (re-)plugging an external monitor, part 2
Affected version
- Arch Linux
- GNOME 40.3
- Wayland session
- Firefox nightly (Wayland, WebRender)
Hardware: Lenovo X1 Carbon 6th (i7-8550U / HD 620)
Bug summary
After unplugging and replugging a 4K external monitor into a laptop, all Firefox windows that were open during this process exhibit scale-related "flickering" upon entering Overview. It looks as if each window gets momentarily resized to 50% of original size and back.
This issue is similar to #1286 (closed) but less disruptive, and only happens with Firefox windows.
Both displays (internal and external) are configured for 200% scaling.
After triggering the bug, all newly opened Firefox windows also exhibit this behavior until Firefox is restarted.
Steps to reproduce
- Close the laptop lid, plug in an external monitor
- Run Firefox (nightly) in Wayland-native mode, open a few windows
- Unplug the external monitor, open the laptop lid and operate it for a while
- Close the laptop lid and plug in the external monitor again
- Attempt to enter the Overview
What happened
All currently open Firefox windows momentarily exhibit some sort of flickering when entering Overview.
What did you expect to happen
No flickering to occur.
