Ctrl + Shift + $ shortcut not working on Wayland
Affected version
First setup I have tested
- OS: Arch Linux
-
uname -r
: 5.9.8-arch1-1 -
gnome-shell --version
: GNOME Shell 3.38.1 -
mutter --version
: 3.38.1 - issue appears on Wayland, not on XOrg
- Hardware: HP ProBook 440 G6
- keyboard layout: happens for both "English (US)" and "German"
Second Setup I have tested
- OS: Manjaro
-
uname -r
: 5.8.18-1-MANJARO -
gnome-shell --version
: GNOME Shell 3.38.1 -
mutter --version
: 3.38.1 - issue appears on Wayland, not on XOrg
- Hardware: HP zBook 15u G2
I am pretty sure the issue was not present in GNOME Shell 3.36.
Bug summary
The keyboard shortcut Super+Shift+$ is not handled by GNOME Shell, instead a simple $ is written to whatever application is currently in focus.
Steps to reproduce
- open
gnome-control-center
> "Keyboard Shortcuts" and set the keyboard shortcut Super+Shift+$ for setting "Move window to workspace 4" - open an application window, e.g. Nautilus, on a workspace other than the 4th
- press Super+Shift+$ while Nautilus is in focus
What happened
A $ is written into the search bar of Nautilus.
What did you expect to happen
The window is moved to the 4th workspace.
Relevant logs, screenshots, screencasts etc.
Running gsettings list-recursively | grep dollar
to make sure that the keyboard shortcut is not active for another action gives the following result
I have setup 5 static workspaces in gnome-tweaks
. All other shortcuts for moving windows to different workspaces (Super+Shift+!/@/#/%) are working as expected
