Click to focus a window should not go through to application
Affected version
- Fedora 31
- Gnome-shell 3.34.3
- Wayland and XOrg
Bug summary
When setting org.gnome.desktop.wm.preferences focus-mode
to click (which is also the default btw), you have to click on a window to focus it and therefore to be able to make that window get the keystrokes and shortcuts.
However, the first click to focus another window should not be passed through to the window, as you might focus a window without actually clicking into it. A common example is the switch to a browser with a yt video running in there which you want to focus but you do not want to pause the video.
Steps to reproduce
- Open
gnome-terminal
andnautilus
- Open a folder with many items in there in
nautilus
- Place them besides each other
- Focus
gnome-terminal
- Click into the
nautilus
window --> The underlying item innautilus
will be selected
What happened
The window gets the focus-click as a regular click.
What did you expect to happen
The window does not get the focus-click as a regular click. Only the second and further clicks into the window would be treated as regular clicks. This is btw. also how the MacOS click-to-focus focusing works.
