Directory comparison fails for folders containing jpg files
Use case: two folders with 2 identical files and one missing on the second folder The files where .jpg (names from 1 to 3.jpg and 1 to 2.jpg on second folder)
Running with diff:
$ diff d1 d2
Only in d1: 3.jpg
With meld d1 d2 (empty folder) in both.
In file filters all boxes checked.
I've used the following script to create the test files:
# script to build test data
mkdir d1 d2 d3 d4
for f in $(seq 1 3);
do
echo $f> d1/$f.jpg
echo $f> d2/$f.jpg
echo $f> d3/$f.txt
echo $f> d4/$f.txt
done
rm -f d2/3.jpg d4/3.txt
diff d1 d2
diff d3 d4
Running the same test but with files with .txt extensions worked fine.
Tested with valid jpg file contents and the result is the same.
