Request: hide tab bar, at least when only one tab exists

All my screen real estate is valuable when doing three way merges on small screens, and I only ever use meld with one tab, but the tab bar insists on taking up a block of that space.

I request that it be possible to hide this tab bar, one way or another. Some possibilities:

  • one-off toggle menu item, under View, just like the existing Toolbar item
  • auto-hide when only one tab exists, with no new settings
  • auto-hide when only one tab exists, with a new setting to toggle that behavior
