Specify encoding for strings
Except for the encoding of the strings returned by notify_get_server_caps
, the documentation currently does not specify the encoding for string literals, whether they're in the system's native encoding or UTF-8.
The usual GNOME convention is the latter, but notify-tool
, perhaps for simplicity, uses ordinary string literals instead of UTF-8 ones, so it's ambiguous and underspecified.
Desired action
At least for function parameters, specify that strings need to be encoded in UTF-8, perhaps with the [element-type utf8]
and similar GTK-Doc annotations, or specify that the multibyte encoding of the locale is expected.
