fstab breaks gvfs(-mount)

Description
If there is a corresponding line for my /dev/sdb1 device in fstab, I get the following error: $ gvfs-mount -d /dev/sdb1 No volume for device file /dev/sdb1
But "udisks --mount /dev/sdb1" works as expected.
When I remove the /dev/sdb1 line from fstab, gvfs-mount also works as expected. But I don't want to do that, because I want to set a fixed mount point for /dev/sdb1, and udisks documentation says that user-specified fstab is the only way to do this.
In fact, the whole gvfs subsystem is buggy(?), because my gvfs-based automounter stuff (thunar-volman) doesn't work neither, which is the main reason for this bugreport. To be honest, I don't know too much about udisks/gvfs, I hope I posted this report to the correct category.
Some version numbers: gvfs 1.6.6 gnome-disk-utility 2.32.1 udisks 1.0.2
Version: 1.6.x
