gucharmap displaying characters (in selection grid) white-on-white. They are invisible.
I know that this is not affecting most users. It's not even affecting me on a laptop set up with the same software. But when I bring up gucharmap on this particular desktop machine, all the characters in the 'grid' display are displayed in white, on a white background. I can still see what they are if I select them with the mouse; they then show white on the darker background that indicates a selected character.
I am completely baffled as to why this is happening. But it has continued happening through several software updates that touched either gucharmap or the things it depends on, so it's something persistent about the setup on this machine. I'll start listing things that could possibly be relevant; if anybody's got further ideas about what could be relevant, please respond to this bug report; I'll be checking it daily.

I think that's at least the beginning cut at things I think are relevant. Please help me figure this out.
