GTK3 FileChooser does not accept files copied from KDE 6
Steps to reproduce
- Copy file in KDE6 to clipboard
- Open
Gtk4Gtk3 FileChooser (in Firefox or Inkscape, for example) - Paste the path from clipboard
Current behavior
Nothing happens.
Expected outcome
The file should be selected.
Version information
Gtk 4.14.1
KDE Plasma 6.0.1
Arch Linux
Additional information
I use KDE as primary UI. but I use many applications using Gtk File Chooser.
I often select file in KDE's Doplhin file browser, Gwenview image viewer or basically any other app and copy the file to clipboard using Ctrl+C.
Up until now, the path could be easily pasted inside the Gtk File Chooser window, making the file being picked. However, after update to KDE Plasma 6, nothing happens when I paste the file path.
This breaks interoperability between KDE/Gtk and would be nice to have this feature back. I don't know exactly if this was broken by chaned behavior of KDE6/Qt6 or Gtk4, but my guess is the Gtk File Chooser should read the "plaintext" clipboard (which would contain string like file:///tmp/file.txt
) and use it. Because if I paste this path manually, it works.
