Don't open a new tab if the tabbed app is on another workspace
Feature summary
Say you have one workspace for work stuff (let's call it "work"), and another for personal activities (let's call it "personal"). gnome-text-editor
is already running on "work". If you switch to "personal" and open some file through the file manager, it will take you back to "work" and open it as a new tab there. That is annoying to me.
How would you like it to work
KDE Plasma does this. If you have Kate running on workspace 1 and try to open a file from workspace 2, it will start a new window on workspace 2 and leave the existing instance on workspace 1 alone.
