Kinetic scrolling with touchpad in GtkGridView with large pixmaps (thumbnails) is broken (jumps up / down)
With GTK 4.10.3 on Fedora 38 with the Wayland GNOME session, Nautilus 44.1 and the Gtk Filechooser (via portal) sometimes exhibit a very strange scroll bug where items jump up and down, instead of the kinetic scroll motion continuing smoothly.
I'm not sure exactly what causes this, but please check out those two very short videos to have a clear view of what I mean:
- What it looks like in Nautilus: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r0CQ4jDm8Wk
- What it looks like in GTK FileChooser: https://youtu.be/u04g35cuOPA
In those videos, you can see the motion being interrupted/jittery, with items jumping up and down seemingly randomly as the kinetic scroll motion slows down.
GTK FileChooser does exhibit this behavior in grid view mode with thumbnails, but it is less pronounced than what we see here in Nautilus, so it was probably less obvious to spot.
In both apps, the listview is not affected; kinetic scroll works 100% as expected there.
