Impossible to select folder with single subfolder FileChooser location entry
Affected version
- Nightly flatpak: Can't test it because it seems to be pre-empted by a different bug which I'll file in a moment
- Other: Fedora Linux 35.20220113.0 (Silverblue), Nautilus 41.1
Steps to reproduce
- Open a Files window
- Right-click on any file
- Select "Copy to..." from the context menu
- File dialog opens
- Press Ctrl+L to activate manual location entry
- Type the name of a folder that has a subfolder. (In my case I was entering
~/.local/bin
, which has a subfolder~/.local/bin/__pycache__
, so I'll use that example in the rest of the bug report.) - After typing the last "n" of
bin
, a/
character is pre-filled and pre-selected - The location bar says
~/.local/bin/
— this is where I want to copy the file, so press Enter - After pressing Enter,
__pycache__/
is quickly pre-filled and pre-selected in the location bar before the file dialog closes
Current behavior
The file is copied to ~/.local/bin/__pycache__
.
Expected behavior
The file should be copied to ~/.local/bin
.
Additional information
- In between Step 7 and 8, the issue can be prevented by unfocusing and refocusing the window, or pressing the left arrow key, or anything else that unselects the pre-selected
/
character in the location bar.
