Save file with bad character in filename
Suppose I do "Save Image As" to a location in an exFAT filesystem. If the filename contains a character not allowed in filenames in that filesystem type (such as ? or : char), I am not warned or stopped in the Save File dialog. Instead the dialog succeeds, and then in the Download list the save-file job fails. And the filename in that list seems to have a couple of non-printing characters in it.
I'm not sure what epiphany could do to help or fix this. Check filesystem type and know which chars are illegal, and flag those in the Save dialog ? Add a setting so the user can specify characters to consider always illegal ? Maybe that setting could say "always just delete these chars from the filename", or "always warn me if these chars are in the filename" ? I don't know.
At least the non-printing chars in filename in the download list should be fixed.
I'm using epiphany (Web) 3.36.2 on Ubuntu GNOME 20.04.
