Bad tab design in gnome/gtk - Hidden Tabs in gnome applications are difficult to work with
Fedora 32 with gtk3-3.24.14-1.fc32.x86_64
Steps to reproduce
- Open Gedit... or Epiphany
- create 13 tabs...
- tile window 50...
Now, we wonder why anyone does not use epiphany! because the tabs are not visible, it is that simple. only 7 tabs are visible on a full hd 1920x1080 screen, rest are hidden.
Just like that gedit which is the most used text editor also suffers from this bad tab design we can't find multiple open files in gedit tabs as they are hidden in < and > buttons. This is most confusing, and making the user to reopen the text file because of 'in-visibility' of tabs.
Tabs should be like Chrome or firefox, they should go wide and narrow as per count of tabs. but in no way a tab should be hidden from direct view of the user.
Epiphany try to use a list button at the end of tabs, but that again is a useless endeavor to circumvent a bad design.
Please consider fixing tab interface for users. PFA screenshots showing the issue.
