Enhancement: Interchange sort indicator icons
With this enhancement request I'm trying to suggest a more intuitive representation of the sort indicator items (▼,▲) for GtkTreeView
s.
Current Situation
- GTK_SORT_ASCENDING has the icon ▼
- GTK_SORT_DESCENDING has the icon ▲
Suggestion
Inverse the icons:
- GTK_SORT_ASCENDING has the icon ▲
- GTK_SORT_DESCENDING has the icon ▼
Logic behind this suggestion
Ascending order means "from low to high" (like "1,2,3,..." or "a,b,c,..."). In other words: "from a small value to a high value". This logic is represented by this symbol: ▲. The triangles smallest part is in the top. The triangles biggest part is in the bottom. So a "1" would be in the top, a "100" would be in the bottom.
Remarks
I guess the current behaviour is inherited from arrow symbols, where "↓" is "ascending" and "↑" is "descending". This made perfect sense. However, then the strokes where probably removed and the triangle was, what's left. However, not being an arrow inverts the logic (as of my point of view).
