Handle URL in "Open a file.." dialog box
Use cases
I'm using both windows and ubuntu and i've been used to paste URL directly in the dialog box when i want to send a file in a web form without doing several steps (right click, download, go the web form and click upload, search the file, hit OK).
Desired behavior
When an URL is pasted in the dialog box, nautilus could download the file silently in /tmp/ for example and return the local link to the temporary file (ex : /tmp/vid001.mp4).
Benefits of the solution
It could make it faster to share file directly from using the url without doing all the steps mentionned above.
Possible drawbacks
- The file is downloaded so it use space on hard disk, but it is also the case without it (maybe try to inform the user of what is happening in background if it is not in the gnome spirit to do this kind of action in the background).
