Print dialog box shows unwanted printers
I have 4 printers in CUPS.
First, I connect to a network. I have:
snoopy:~$ avahi-browse _ipp._tcp -frt
snoopy:~$ lpstat -t
scheduler is running
system default destination: herge
device for herge: socket://...
device for oki: socket://...
device for peyo: socket://...
device for rt: socket://...
herge accepting requests since Mon 18 Jun 2018 10:12:57 CEST
oki accepting requests since Fri 08 Jun 2018 18:25:10 CEST
peyo not accepting requests since Fri 08 Jun 2018 18:32:08 CEST -
reason unknown
rt accepting requests since Fri 26 Jan 2018 12:04:00 CET
printer herge is idle. enabled since Mon 18 Jun 2018 10:12:57 CEST
printer oki is idle. enabled since Fri 08 Jun 2018 18:25:10 CEST
printer peyo is idle. enabled since Fri 08 Jun 2018 18:32:08 CEST
printer rt is idle. enabled since Fri 26 Jan 2018 12:04:00 CET
These are the 4 printers in CUPS. Everything is ok in this network (I intentionally disabled peyo).
Now, I connect to another one (my lab office), I have:
snoopy:~$ avahi-browse _ipp._tcp -frt
+ eth0 IPv4 HP Deskjet 3070 B611 series @ mb15-pret Internet Printer local
= eth0 IPv4 HP Deskjet 3070 B611 series @ mb15-pret Internet Printer local
hostname = [mb15-pret.local]
address = [...]
port = [631]
txt = ["printer-type=0x480900E" "printer-state=3" "Scan=T" "Color=T" "TLS=1.2" "UUID=6e79ea58-51b0-3daa-68cc-0841fe158d27" "pdl=application/octet-stream,application/pdf,application/postscript,image/jpeg,image/png,image/pwg-raster" "product=(HP Deskjet 3070 B611 series)" "priority=0" "note=mb15-hvalance" "adminurl=https://mb15-pret.local.:631/printers/HP_Deskjet_3070_B611_series" "ty=HP Deskjet 3070 B611 series" "rp=printers/HP_Deskjet_3070_B611_series" "qtotal=1" "txtvers=1"]
lpstat -t shows the same entries.
Print dialog in gtk software (firefox, evince, thunderbird etc.) shows the same 4 printers, and a 5th too: the mb15-hvalence above.
I use debian gnu/linux unstable, gtk+ 3.22.30-1.
This bug is similar to bug #887, but is different.
root@snoopy:~# grep Brows /etc/cups/cupsd.conf
Browsing Off
BrowseLocalProtocols none
(and I restarted the machine).
What should I do to have the dialog box show only the 4 printers in CUPS and get rid of the 5th entry?
