Move date format string to gsettings-desktop-schemas to allow tweaks on the clock format
Hi everybody.
This is my first contribution to GNOME. If I do anything less than ideal, please let me know.
My proposition is to allow the customization of the clock format strings on both 12h and 24h, adding them to the gnome-desktop-schemas GDesktopClockFormat
to allow future customizations of the clock format.
I evaluated the demand for this through the existence of an extension that does exactly this (100K+ downloads). The author decided to not move forward with the compatibility, mentioning problems regarding compatibility.
I can make this a native feature, but my plans are not to enable this in the settings panel. Only users with dconf-editor or gnome-tweaks should be able to change that string, assuming that those users are more in line with the possibility of breaking things.
Important: for now, I do not think that it is required any design tasks due to the very nature of this.
Proposed Mockups:
It is %l:%M %p on %A, the %eth of %B, %Y.
=> It is 2:23 PM on Monday, the 23rd of October, 2023.
%Y-%m-%dT%H:%M:%S
=> 2023-10-23T14:23:00
