When Creating New f2fs Partition Start & Finish Can default To Odd (i.e. Not Even) MiB Boundaries
Hi
Just started to try out the f2fs file system for flash drives.
The first time I created the flash drive partition I accepted the gparted defaults. It seemed to work except that there was an error icon. Exploring this, the error message said that the partition could not be accessed.
The default start point 1MiB and the default point was the end of the drive.
Delving a bit more into f2fs, I believe it operates on 2MiB boundaries.
I therefore tried gparted again but this time set the start point to 2Mib. I also notice that the end point was now an odd number so I reduced it by 1 MiB to make it even.
This now seems to have given me a perfectly serviceable f2fs formatted flash drive.
If the issue and suggested fix are confirmed, as an aid to users, can I suggest that gparted ensures that the suggested start and end points are always an even number of MiB's when creating an f2fs formatted partition.
Cheers
Clive
