select entire column with merged cells

Description
Please describe the problem: selecting a column by clicking a letter at the top of the spreadsheet should only select the clumn you click on. if there are merged cells in the column, all of the columns that the merged cells connect are selected.
Steps to reproduce:
- merge A1:B1
- click on column heading B
Actual results: columns A and B are selected
Expected results: Column B only is selected
Does this happen every time? yes
