data labels visible out-of-bounds
Observed behavior: Consider the attached screen shot, and the .gnumeric file that produced it. weekly.gnumeric
Observe that the data points (blue circles) that fall outside the plotting area are not visible. This is the desired and expected behavior.
In contrast, the data labels (red lettering) are visible outside the plotting area. You can see them trampling on the X-axis label. This is unexpected and undesirable. This seems inconsistent, to say the least.
Partial Workaround: I can work around this to some extent by computing a new set of data point positions, so that no valid data falls outside the plotting area. This comes at a nontrivial cost; in particular I have to turn off auto-axis-scaling.
Platform: This is observed with an old version '1.12.38' and also, equivalently, with the very latest version '1.12.48' compiled from freshly-pulled git sources. This is 100% reproducible chez moi.
