Enhancement request: hunspell or aspell spell-checker plug-in for gnumeric

Description
I have read a few posts on the mailing-list archive, and they were mostly negative. But please, read-on.
I belong to the lowest category of gnumeric users (average end-users). As such -- and no offense to the purists, and the mathematicians -- I also use extensively gnumeric for lists (items lists, topic lists, vocabulary lists, etc).
My mother tongue is French (Swiss). Many words have a similar sounding but a different spelling, by example:
French English développement | development enveloppe | envelop
More than once, I mix the orthography of both languages. Not to mention that I am also doing typos on a regular basis.
It has an impact when I share, or send, or print for others, a gnumeric document (e.g. to my hierarchical superior, my students sigh, etc.).
I currently proof-read important documents using Stardict, but it's time consuming.
As everyone else, I favor light software. I also agree that a spreadsheet is not a word processor. Nevertheless, list items (i.e. nouns) are not sentences.
A spell-checker plug-in to be used with hunspell or aspell, would nicely complete gnumeric. The people good at orthography, or using gnumeric exclusively with numbers, could opt out. People like me, with a failing orthography(1), would feel more at peace in their daily use of gnumeric.
This is an enhancement request. Thank you for reading my plea.
