hyperlinking assignment problems between notes

Description
Hello Gnote,
I am a long time tomboy user. The latest tomboy release had a "bug" or they deliberately changed its linking rules. I am used to how it worked in the past, better. Anyway, it does not seem like tomboy is going to continue, so I guess I should try Gnote.
Your linking rules are also messed up, in the same way as tomboy, hopefully you can help me solve the problem.
Here is the problem:
Note 1 title: 2011
Note 2 title: 2011 - 03
If I type in a new note the phrase "2011 - 03", only "2011" is hyperlinked to its corresponding note. This is a problem.
In Gnote, this problem goes a step furhter.
Note 1 title: 2011
Note 2 title: 2011-03
If I type in a new note the phrase "2011-03", only "2011" is hyperlinked to its corresponding note. In this situation not only are the spaces misbehaving but also the '-'.
I can run a bug report if you desire.
tl;dr
It seems as if the in-text phrase finder/hyperlink generator is not recognizing non-alphanumeric characters. As a result it links improperly.
See: screen capture image attached for a better example.
