Sync Fail to local file or WebDAV file
Operating system: Debian Buster (testing)
Desktop: Gnome Version 3.30.2
Gnote Version: 3.30.0
To take the networking stuff out of the equation I have set "Local Folder" as the synchronization service and provided a path for "Folder Path" in the preferences.
Under "Plugins" Local Directory Sync Service Plugin 0.2 is enabled. WebDAV Sync Service Plugin 0.3 is also enabled.
Case 1 Using the Local Folder service and starting with about 40 notes in gnote I do the following (note that through multiple attempts, at this point I do have something to sync to):
Action: Open gnote, make changes to a note, manually sync to local folder. Result: Seems to have worked, gnote reports one note updated.
Action: Delete a note. Result: gnote sync dialog appears, the animation in the progress bar moves, eventually gnote exits.
Action: Reopen gnote, deleted note is gone. Manually sync. Result: gnote updates ALL notes, then crashes again, closes itself. Reopen and the previously deleted not is back.
Case 2 Action: Add text to a note, manually sync Result: gnote claims there is a conflict between the server version and the local note.
There are many such odd behaviors and crashes but if there is some specific set of actions I can test to help solve this issue, please let me know, I'd be happy to try them.
I guess in summary, syncing is just really broken. Also, thank you all for maintaining and continuing the development of gnote. When I switched from my Mac to Linux the first application I started using was gnote. It really is clever and very useful.
