Autosaving causes constant freezes in larger files
System information
Debian sid
gnome-text-editor 43.alpha1
Bug information
Steps to reproduce
- Create text document maybe 1k lines large (copy-pasting paragraphs over and over creates enough text for this)
- Type a new paragraph
Current behaviour
Input freezes (text input freezes during typing, and when it resumes, input during the freeze is lost)
Expected behaviour
Input does not freeze or lag
Workaround
Changing autosave delay to something large causes the freeze to disappear, seemingly confirming the freeze is caused by the autosave feature. For instance:
gsettings set org.gnome.TextEditor auto-save-delay 100
This bug is compounded by the fact that the autosave delay feature is not exposed in the GUI, so the workaround requires dabbling in gsettings, which is not user friendly, should someone realize the problem and attempt to bypass it.
This issue is only present in newer versions, though I cannot pinpoint when exactly it arose.
