selected text and enter key pressed does not delete selected text
versions:
- gnome-text-editor-42.0-1.fc36.x86_64
- gnome-text-editor-42.1-2.fc36.x86_64
steps to reproduce behavior:
- open
gnome-text-editor
(g-t-e) and enter text, f.i. "asdf" - select any part of the text
- press enter key multiple times (use case: delete selected text and add additional line break characters in one step)
current behavior:
- selected text does not get deleted
- line break character are added
- with left to right selection: selected text stays in place and selection box gets extended
- with right to left selection: selected text is moved downwards
- you must press delete or backspace or any character key to get rid of selected text
expected behavior:
- selected text gets deleted
- line break characters are added
additional information:
All other text editors I used so far - f.i. gedit
, leafpad
, libreoffice
- replace the selected text with a line break character. Maybe this different behavior is intended for g-t-e. If so, I will get used to it.
