Version 3.40.3 for GNOME 40: Issue with copying text from Terminal & pasting results in extra lines

I am trying to move our development team to AlmaLinux 9.x and I am unable to do so because of a very serious and annoying bug, that concerns copying text, any text, from the GNOME Terminal to Windows.
Our AlmaLinux 9.x environment runs in VirtualBox. When I copy text from the GNOME Terminal to Window's Notepad application, this is what happens:

GNOME Terminal is adding/inserting TWO new lines after 0.
I cannot find a way to stop this behavior. I tried to change the line-endings to Unix before pasting and it did not work.
This issue does not occur if I copy and paste from the following applications running within AlmaLinux 9: Google Chrome PhpStorm
Unfortunately, our development team works with Linux and Windows at the same time, and moving to AlmaLinux 9.x with this issue is going to prevent us from doing so.
Is there perhaps a work around for this?
