[Feature request] Restore Terminal Background (AUR Patch)
Beforehand i have read the FAQ and the bug reporting guidelines and when trying to access the Bugzilla get a "AccessDenied" Error. Changing _NET_WM_WINDOW_OPACITY with xprop ex. xprop -f _NET_WM_WINDOW_OPACITY 32c -set _NET_WM_WINDOW_OPACITY $(printf 0x%x $((0xffffffff * 40 / 100))) does also change the opacity of the window and overall text and not just the Terminal background and is therefore terrible to use and readability. I have asked the Gentoo GNOME Desktop Maintainers and it was suggested to issue this upstream.
ISSUE: After upgrading my package to gnome-terminal-3.46.7, i have noticed that the background transparency of the Terminal wasn't available anymore and trying different system themes with the "use system theme" option either didn't do anything in that regards or made it (for example with Arc-Black) 100% transparent (a bug?) which is terrible for readability, since the terminal should have some background/contrast. This issue gets solved by applying the AUR Patch: gnome-terminal-transparency 3.46.7-1 https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/gnome-terminal-transparency.
I would like to request adding the Patch either by default or creating an useflag USE=transparency (like it has been done for gnome-shell, nautilus) for it. Doing so adds the optional/toggleable functionality and a slider in the terminal-settings of a profile under Colors.
Gentoo Linux 6.1.7 GNOME 43.2
Thanks
