gnome background and task bar disappear
When I login gnome starts correctly but a moment later my background and task lines disappear (black screen) with just my desktop icons left. If an icon is started then the screen reverts to normal and is fine until all tasked are closed again. If a message appears again its normal until that message disappears. The task bar items are all there just not visible and can be selected. The panel selector works but if you go to a panel with nothing running it will be black. If you go back then the original panel is fine.
I have just updated to Fedora 36 on two machines and it is the same on both. I believe this is the version I am actually using (from dnf info) Source : gnome-session-42.0-1.fc36.src.rpm
What I have worked out is at login if I choose gnome or gnomeclassic it does not work (my normal setting gnome classic). If I instead choose gnome classic on xorg it works fine no problems.
I have updated everything but the problem is still there.
Also I have another problem which I think is related is that at startup it messages me with "an update has failed" and the details are: Detailed errors from the package manager follows: failed to resolve package_ids: Could not activate remote peer. This message is found in the messages area of the date icon etc.
I hope this is a simple fix and an update will correct it.
