Double-clicking URL should select it irrespective of word boundary setting

It's reasonable to make ":" not part of words, for instance to allow double-click to select the filename in grep output without selecting the trailing :. But then double-clicking URLs doesn't select them (it omits the scheme at the beginning).
There's already logic to identify URLs, used for the context menu options. Why not have a special case so that double-clicking a URL will select it? If the user double-clicks a URL, they almost certainly intend to select it. Perhaps they want to select only the domain or path component, but certainly they don't mean to exclude the scheme.
