Created attachment 321891 gnome-terminal backtrace
If I run gnome-terminal from the desktop icon or from a terminal like xterm, it fails to start with this error:
Error constructing proxy for org.gnome.Terminal:/org/gnome/Terminal/Factory0: Error calling StartServiceByName for org.gnome.Terminal: GDBus.Error:org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.Spawn.ChildSignaled: Process org.gnome.Terminal received signal 5
This problem might not be entirely due to gnome-terminal ( I suspect the same issue affects evolution-source-registry, gvfsd, goa-daemon and mission-control-5). So I suspect that it failure to connect to dbus. Indeed, if I use "dbus-launch gnome-terminal", then it works.
In some earlier bugs, gdm was blamed for this issue. I don't use gdm at all (it never works on my system); so it cannot be the culprit. Other display-managers (kdm, sddm, slim, mdm) work.
The backtrace is attached.
